A Message From Mike Horgash/President
Digital Printworks named "Best Printer in Northwest Indiana" by Indiana Business Magazine!

We want to thank everyone for voting for us as the best printer in N.W. Indiana! A spokesperson from the magazine commented...

..."the additional testimonial letters that we received were so positive and really talked up your company! We have never seen additional testimonial letters for any business since inception of the contest! Obviously, you must be doing something great for all your customers in the region!"

The article will be published in the April '09 issue. We will make sure to send a copy of the article to all!

On a side note...For those of you that don't know, my brother Paul (V.P. Production) and I are musicians in a local Irish Rock band called New Element! (www.newelement.com) If you get a chance, try to make it to one of our upcoming performances this March! (The picture is of Paul (left) and I playing at the Indianapolis Irish Festival a few years ago).

Keep an eye open for this month's special promoting our speed and quality of our printing services...Real Printing/Real Fast! (Spend over $1000.00 on a print order and receive a FREE Digital Printworks "Print Happens" T-shirt).

Have a great St. Patrick's Day!!!

As always, we appreciate your business!

Sincerely,

Mike Horgash/President

Idea of the Week
Add a Drop Shadow for Drama

Here are some thoughts about how to use drop shadows more creatively:
  • The drop shadow can be a surprisingly simple means of making an image more interesting.
  • A drop shadow can be realistic, or can be presented as a simple, hard-edged gray tone.
  • Shadows can darken a mood or convey a look of sunshine.
  • Many software programs feature the ability to add a drop shadow to an image.
Use drop shadows to signify:
  • Light sources
  • Realistic images
  • Graphics
  • Flat images
  • Perspectives
  • Darkness
  • Light

Marketing Tip
If You Invite Them, They Will Come…

If you’re planning to exhibit at an upcoming tradeshow event, you’ll want to notify your target audience in advance that you’ll be there, and give them reasons to visit your booth. Many attendees will already have an idea of which booths they want to visit during the show. Here are a few ways to become part of that list by promoting your tradeshow appearance:
  • Send a pre-show mailer. Many tradeshows have a pre-registration list you can purchase, or you can pay to have the show’s administrator mail your information directly to registered attendees. In addition to the registration list, be sure to send your invite to your in-house marketing list as an extra way to spread the word and inform people about the upcoming event. Be sure to include your booth number so attendees can find your booth, as well as contact information should they want to call you or check out your website before the event.

  • Entice people to visit your booth. Don’t just send an announcement that you’ll be there – instead give attendees a reason to come see you. Invite them to bring your pre-mailer for a free gift or enter into a drawing, inform them about a special demonstration or product promotion, etc. This is also a great way to track the effectiveness of your pre-show mailer.

  • Utilize email. Not only can you send an e-mail to prospects or customers as a special reminder about the upcoming event, but you can include a tagline on all emails with a marketing plug, such as: “Visit us at Booth 50 at the Marine Expo March 15!” Include any special giveaway or promo information in your email as well. Just be sure you have email permission before sending a mass email.

  • Use your web site to announce the event. Offer a printable map of the tradeshow event with your booth marked, in addition to the same giveaway offer or information your pre-show mailer included. You could also advertise a special savings coupon in your preshow mailer that is available only online, to help increase traffic to your website.
No matter what media you use to promote your appearance at an upcoming event, the key is getting the word out early and frequently. And don’t forget to follow-up after the event. Send a card to thank visitors for stopping at your booth and consider providing them a special discount promotion as well.

Tech Tips
External Hard Drives

External hard drives are a great way to back up your computer, store large amounts of data, archive important files, or simply transfer data from one computer to another.

Simply stated, a hard drive is a computer component that stores data. Every computer needs at least one hard drive to store its operating system, programs, and user information. While this drive is usually internal, an additional external hard drive (which lives outside your computer), is an ideal way to back up info and make more room on your hard drive for files such as photos, documents, music, videos, and other files that take up massive amounts of space on your computer’s hard drive.

Not only can an external hard drive be stored off-site for safe keeping, but they can store large files, sensitive documents, and backup the contents of your main internal hard drive, keeping them safe from potential security threats that may occur during internet use, such as viruses and spyware.

External hard drives operate on a plug and play basis. This means you can connect it to any computer via an interface cable when you want to transfer information, or leave it turned off when you are online. It is also an easy way to transfer large files between work and home, to a friend’s house, or between your laptop and desktop computers.

Whether for backup or file transfer, an external hard drive can provide you with the peace of mind and convenience you’re looking for in a snap.
